The Artist

The artist Nicolas Renart next to his sculpture of a golden horse

Nicolas Renart, from farrier to artist, creator of works of art.

Inheriting the techniques of the blacksmith, Nicolas Renart elevates ironwork to the level of an artistic language.

His sculptures reveal a controlled tension between the raw power of the metal and the finesse of the gaze, combining traditional know-how and contemporary sensibility.

Each work, designed to engage in dialogue with private collections as well as with demanding cultural venues, asserts a unique and refined aesthetic signature.

The steady hammering of the hammer on the anvil resonates as a tribute to master blacksmiths, while also outlining a decidedly personal path.

The artist breathes an almost living presence into the metal, demonstrating a deep passion for each of his creations where technical rigor and poetic expression unite.

Biographie

Nicolas Sledziona continues in the world of metal a path shaped by an artisanal heritage and an unquenchable curiosity for artistic expression.

His training combines artisanal practice and personal approach, and he strives to go beyond the limits of a simple metallic motif to give his pieces a breath and a presence that attract the eye.

His works are aimed at discerning collectors and institutions seeking an aesthetic that is both powerful and refined.

Each piece is born from this unique alchemy where the dancing glow of the embers tests the resistance of the metal, the rhythmic hammering on the anvil transforms into a score, and age-old techniques converse with contemporary inspiration.

Inspirations et univers

The voice of metal: vision and creation

At the heart of his work lies the conviction that wrought iron, far from being reduced to a simple material, embodies a capacity for expression that can dialogue with the gaze and imagination of the spectator.

The artist prioritizes emotion and movement over mere descriptive realism: each curve, each edge seems to embrace an inner rhythm that resonates with the breath of light. The gaze, the tension of the lines, and the relationship with lighting sculpt the animality into a sensitive and vibrant message: measured majesty, acute vigilance, profound wisdom, or contained energy are all vividly conveyed through the works and the interplay of light and shadow.

Each curve seems to capture a moment of life. A rearing horse in eternal momentum, a charging bull, an intrigued donkey; his works transcend the rigidity of metal to make movements and emotions spring forth.

This interplay between matter and gesture invites the viewer to an introspective experience, where the sculpture becomes not only an object of contemplation but also a mirror of the states of mind and universal questions that permeate our relationship with living things.

In the gesture, the material speaks

His practice is based on a refined balance between forging, shaping and surface treatments, which enhance the material.

The forge is to sculpture what the heart is to emotions: it constitutes its foundational basis. Through hammering and heat, it shapes volumes and lines with a precision that imprints, from the outset, the musicality of the gestures.

Each movement becomes a chord, each note of metal a form that takes shape under the blows, until the harmony of volumes speaks for itself.

In this dialogue between fire and matter, the work gradually reveals itself, marked by a regularity tempered by intuition and by a contained tension that allows for a range of possibilities.

The patina that comes next is not just a simple covering, it is the imprint that reveals the textures and reflections, and that gives the material its soul.

They are produced through chemical and thermal processes, shaping rich and variable tones that evolve according to the light and the viewer's gaze.

Sometimes, copper and brass patinas interact with metallic nuances, bringing warmth and density that enhance the expressiveness and dynamism of the works.

The matte black finish adds a structural depth to the material, while the glossy patinas interact with the light to animate and amplify the movement of the volumes. In addition, when desired, a natural gray can be chosen, evoking the raw forge and highlighting certain details, enhancing the legibility of the forms.
